The Fourth Commandment is the only one of the Ten Commandments about which real Christians have disagreement as to its observance for New Testament believers. The Sabbath was highly regarded in first century Judaism, because of the connection between the failure to observe the Sabbath system and the exile of God's people from the land of Israel. The Sabbath was God's gift for the welfare of God's creatures.
