Existentialism and Postmodernism

There are at least two goals of this brief series on postmodernism. First of all, we want to understand our culture that we might more effectively bring the gospel to it. Secondly, we want to understand some of the sinful, subtle yet powerful pressures the world is exerting on the church that we might stand true to the Lord.
In part five we discuss postmodernism's exaltation of the individual in existentialism. The emphasis of existentialism is on the individual's actual experience and living. Inherent in this position is uncertainty regarding any universal story in which all individuals are a part. It believes in such overarching worldviews the individual gets lost and disregarded.
