The disciples of John the Baptist began to get jealous over the fact that the crowds following Jesus were beginning to increase. They went to their leader, John, with their complaint.

But John just pointed them to Christ, saying, "He must increase, but I must decrease." John the Baptist had the proper view of himself and our Lord. He knew that ministry was not about personality, popularity or celebrity. He only wanted others to see, know, and follow Christ. So should we. We should only follow Christ and want others to do the same.
