What Inspiring Death Of DL Moody Teaches Us Here On 185th Anniversary Of His Birth

145

Just days before his death, Gandhi wrote, "All about me is darkness; I am praying for light." By contrast, evangelist DL Moody's last recorded words were, "This is my triumph; this my coronation day! It is glorious!" Both Gandhi and Moody are revered and respected, for very different reasons, but ask yourself this, Christian, which testimony would you rather have when it comes your time to go Home to be with Jesus Christ? Don't think that just because you're saved you will go out with a testimony like Moody's, but here's the good news. You can if you want to. In Chicago, you have the Moody Bible Institute, and in Massachusetts you have the Northfield Mount Hermon school, both institutions started by DL Moody. Every year on the occasion of his birth, they celebrate something called 'Founder's Week' in honor of Moody. Both these schools have become liberal, and for the most part, quite secular especially the one in Massachusetts, with the teaching of Bible doctrine nearly non-existent. If Moody could come back and see what happened to the works the Lord allowed him to start, he'd weep and then start flipping over tables. When DL Moody was dying, he looked up to Heaven and said, "Earth is receding, heaven is opening, this is my coronation day!" Would you like to go out with a testimony like that? You can, if you know Moody's secret. Today I would like to bring you a message, not intended so much to honor DL Moody, but one that will lift up and exalt his Saviour, Jesus Christ.
