The Signs Of Christ's Coming In The Old Testament

1,286

In Rev. 16:15 and the verses that follow, the Lord is telling us what to expect for the future of the church and the world, preparing us, just as he prepared believers in Old Testament times, speaking to them through the Scriptures telling them what to expect for the future of the church and the world, the coming of the Promised Savior Jesus Christ. Many of them understood — even Job, who lived centuries before the birth of Christ, could say, Job 19:5: “I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold.”

If Job, who did not have the Gospel, understood what the Lord told him in His Word, if he embraced the Savior and knew from God's Word what the future held, what excuse do we have?

We are not to spiritually sleep as unbelievers do, even those unbelievers who read the words of Scripture, for they they cannot understand them, they are spiritually discerned: I Cor. 2:14, “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because
they are spiritually discerned.”

Rather, we as born-again believers, saved by the blood of Christ, are to read the signs of the times and prepare ourselves for what will follow.
