The consequences of partial obedience

104 ( 66 | 38 )

This address was given for the Croydon Strict Baptist Education Society.

Early after coming out of Egypt the children of Israel were taught how God required, not partial, but full obedience. This was taught in the provision of manna.

Obeying in part can often mask the fact that we are disobeying in other respects.
The subject of this address, is not obedience or disobedience, but the consequences of PARTIAL obedience.

God knows we cannot, as Moses could not, give perfect obedience. In mercy he has provided his own son, Jesus Christ who was obedient unto death. (Philippians 2:8) In his righteousness is how we shall appear before God. (Romans 5:19)

The passages referred to are:
Exodus 16, Exodus 17, numbers 20, 1 Samuel 15 and 1 Kings 13.
Romans 6:17, 1 Peter 4:17
2 Peter 1:20
