Growing God's Way

In the opening couple of verses of the 2nd Chapter of his 1st Epistle, Peter addresses two subjects:

The New Life Negatively Described (vs. 1)
This verse deals with those items that are to be Avoided in the New Way of Living

The New Life Positively Described (vs. 2)
This verse deals with What is to be Affirmed in the New Way of Living

"As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby"
Here in this verse Peter tells us, not what is to be avoided, but rather what is to be affirmed.
We must not only Put Somethings Off, but we must Put Somethings On

What is to be Affirmed is an An Appetite for God's Word so that we can Achieve Spiritual Growth

In this verse Peter is calling for Christians to be Growing in Spiritual Things

Growing in the way that God has instructed, ordained and designed

Just as a new born baby would naturally desire milk, so any and all believers, who have been brought to New Life in Christ should have a an insatiable desire to know and be nourished by God's Word.
