9. Prisons, and Suffering in Ministry

As Christians experience 'push-back' and opposition to their proclamation, they are sharing in Christ's sufferings (1Peter 4:13). The
sufferings endured by the apostles as they went about their public
ministries has provided encouragement to the church universal (1Peter 5:9; Hebrews 13:3) to learn to face suffering, imprisonment and persecution as Christ's people (Matthew 5:11-12; Acts 16; John 21:18-19). Paul wrote fruitful letters from prison, bore witness to Christ in prison, and saw some amazing things happen in prison, while he
preached this new 'freedom' for humanity and for creation (Acts 26:29;
Galatians 5:1; Romans 8)
