The Preaching Of John

How great was John the Baptist? Our Lord declared; "Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist" and "For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John" (Matt. 11:11, 13). Would this assessment include his preaching? If so, how so? What can we learn from John? Do we have ears to hear and feet to do what the Holy Spirit gave us though him? The sermon outline is as follows:

I. Warning of the dangers of unbelief and the need for repentance

II. Presenting true repentance concerning specific besetting sins

III. Pointing to God's provision of salvation in and through Jesus Christ
IV. Willing to pay the ultimate price for what is true
