Lessons from Judas

Matthew 26:14-25, 46-50
Matthew 27:3-10

1. What do we know about Judas?

• A few minor details…
• Chosen by Jesus.
• Appeared to be just like the others.
• A witness of all Christ’s miracles.
• Surely – sincere to begin with!

So – what changed?

• Well – nothing!
• Jesus didn’t change…
• And really, Judas didn’t either!
• He began to see that Jesus was not going to meet his expectations.

2. Lessons to learn...
   a) Has Jesus changed me?

• Goals?
• Expectations?
• Perspectives?
• Hopes?
• Has Jesus’ teaching changed you?

b) Am I a hypocrite?

• When we put on an act.
• Saying the right words…
• No one sets out to be a hypocrite!

c) Am I content to follow where Christ leads?

• Judas’ fall into discontent.
• Judas’ choice: Christ’s direction, or mine?

d) Am I truly repentant for my sin?

• Judas knew he had done wrong…
• He was sorry…
• But did he repent?
• Did he seek forgiveness?
• Have we?
