Why God Hates Pride So Much, Part 2
Series Series in Jeremiah (2004-2007)
62
Aim: To repent of pride, by sovereign grace.
Doctrine: The church should fear heart-slavery to pride, because it betrays reprobation and it portends destruction.
Exegesis: Hope and horror, regarding pride: I must bow to God, or suffer blindness (vv. 15-17); I must obey God, or lose everything (vv. 18-23); I must be clean in Jesus, or be subjected to shame (vv. 24-27).
Further application: Practical helps to humility: consider what liberating happiness it would bring me, and consider how it would please the God I love.
Key verse: v. 15 ''Hear and give ear: Do not be proud, For the LORD has spoken.''
