The Covenants of Scripture, part 2

218

The Abrahamic covenant is the foundational covenant in Scripture. The three unconditional provisions of the covenant were the promise of land to Abraham and his descendants, the promise of descendants and the promise of blessing to all the nations. These three aspects are elaborated and confirmed to Abraham's descendants with the progress of God's revelation to man. These are identified as the Scriptures progress as the Palestinian or land covenant, the Davidic or seed, and the New covenant with the blessing extended to all people as salvation through the seed of Abraham now fully realized as Jesus Christ. Being unconditional in its essence the New covenant is discussed in contrast to the conditional nature of the Mosaic covenant made by God specifically with the nation of Israel on Mount Sinai.
