My People Love to Have It So: Why Do We Love Lies? (Jer. 5:1-31)

Why do we believe lies?

Often we know that they are lies – and we believe them anyway. But sometimes we are so deceived that we believe a lie – thinking that it is the truth!

This morning we heard the three temptations of Israel in the wilderness – warnings that Israel not “say in their hearts” these three things.

Tonight Jeremiah says, “They do not say in their hearts, ‘Let us fear the LORD our God.’” (v24)

If we feared the LORD our God, then we would not love and believe lies.

This is at the heart of the message that Jeremiah preaches to Jerusalem....
