We must be “doers of the Law”!
Special privileges of God's people (17-18)
Being called a Jew (17a)
Relying upon the Law (17b)
Boasting in God (17c)
Knowing God's will (18a)
Approving what is excellent (18b)
Basis: Because you are instructed from the Law (18c)
Superior positions of God's people (19-20)
Guide to the blind (19a)
Light to those who are in darkness (19b)
Instructor of the foolish (20a)
Teacher of children (20b)
Basis: Having the embodiment of knowledge and truth (20c)
Self-contradictory practices of God's people (21-22)
You who teach another, do you not teach yourself? (21a)
You who preach against stealing, do you steal? (21b)
You who say not to commit adultery, do you? (22a)
You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? (22c)
Results of the hypocrisy of God's people (23-24)
Dishonoring of God by the Jews (23)
Blasphemy of God by the Gentiles (24)
Application: Instead of honoring Christ and drawing people to Him,
hypocritical Christians actually dishonor Christ and push folks away from Him!
May God bring us all to true repentance and faith today! All eternity depends on it!
