The Marriage Covenant Part Eight: The Husband's Vows To Care For and Take

117

The Marriage Covenant is made with God and therefore held to the standards of God. Despite conventional wisdom which allows either the church or the couple to write the vows to which they feel they should be held God has already written His standards and it is to these not to man which He holds the couple accountable. It is imperative therefore tor the couple to discover as quickly as possible those vows to which they are held personally accountable by God.
When the husband marries he covenants to become a family man. Men who whish to maintain a single lifestyle in terms of hobbies, friends and work should not marry. With marriage comes a whole new list of responsibilities.
The wife on her part agrees to grant her husband respect both in the public and private arenas. Just as the husband's love for his wife is not based on her earning it so the wife's show of respect for her husband both before the world, the children and in the privacy of their own bedroom must be based on her covenant with God and not on the behavior of her husband.
