God's Reign by the Spirit

The momentous events of Pentecost are recorded in Acts 2. It is clear, on this occasion, that the Holy Spirit is in charge, not the apostles. Then, when the apostles begin to speak, it is clear that Christ is in charge. It is he who is greater than death and he who has poured out the Spirit.

Here, to everyone's surprise, is the kingdom of God in full action. Many are deeply convicted. This is a court room event and God has declared them guilty. What will they do? They discover the amazing truth, by the Spirit, that God has taken charge in order to give forgiveness and reconciliation and hope and love. How we need this unique work of the Spirit!
