Babylon: Great City Judged (part 2)

Chapters 17 and 18 are an explanation of specific details describing God's full wrath being poured out on Babylon - the city and the kingdom. Chapter 18 reveals the elimination of the actual city of Babylon - the physical, commercial and geographical headquarters of the world. Part two, verses 9-24, continue the second angelic message, covering the destruction and the desolation of the great city. The angel reveals: (#3) the weeping, lamenting and mourning of the monarchs, merchants and mariners of the earth who used Babylon, as they react to her destruction [vv.9-20], and (#4) the example, extermination and evidence of her inhabitants of Babylon as they witness her total desolation [vv.21-24]. She had led the world into a self-centered luxury that focused on iniquity, immorality and sensuality - and so the actual city of Babylon will forever cease to exist because of what she had done.
