Lest We Forget

Even Christians need reminders of important spiritual truths, not least those which have to do with what 2 Peter 1:5-11 sets out as our responsibility in Christian growth. God gave Israel the likes of the Passover and the Sabbath(s) as reminders of his works of redemption. In the New Testament we have the Lord's Supper as a "remembering" of the Lord's death.

Here in verses 12-15 Peter three times refers to remembering and recalling the "qualities" he had listed in verses 3-11. For the problems we encounter in the world today, as indeed those of the Church, what is needed is not a "new" gospel but a recalling and rediscovery of the "old" one!
