The Love of Christ - Emptied

Paul uses this hymn to give the Philippians a picture of what self-sacrificing humility looks like in action. Jesus emptied Himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. Jesus emptied Himself not by substracting anything from His deity but rather by adding to His true, essential, eternal godly nature the form of a servant.
