A Portrait of Meekness

Thesis: What is a biblical portrait of a meek person? How does spiritual meekness manifest?
First, understand the Gospel. Jesus:
a. Already kept the law
b. suffer retribution of the law
c. purchased our RedemptionMeekness is Good Willed event to those who hurt us - v.14
a. Easier said than done
b. You can't stop the pain but you can pray
c. What about imprecatory Psalms?
d. Jesus the ultimate standardMeekness shows empathy to others v.15
a. get out of ourselves and join others in their joys and sorrows
b. "life is not always about them"Meekness strives for unity and Harmony v.16
a. Procures unity - not uniformity
b. Not sparing efforts to procure unity
c. Unity is established in truth, and not at the expense of itMeekness is unassuming - v.16b
a. Proverbs 16:19 - better to lose an argument in humility than to win it in pride
b. Do not be haughty - do not be opinionated - Pr 11:9/Pr 13:3
Conclusion
Meekness shows good will, empathy, harmony and humility. Jesus said:"learn from me, who am meek and humble in spirit..." Jesus rejoiced, he wept, associated with the lowly, paid his taxes. He is happy to call us His brethren
