Lord's Day 18 Jesus went to heaven for our benefit
56 ( 50 | 6 )
When we believe that Jesus Christ went to heaven for our benefit this world is no longer a scary or depressing place, Jesus went to heaven: 1. As our advocate 2. to change the focus of our live. 3. to guarantee our glorification.
Introduction:
- Why did some old ships have two compasses instead of just one? In what sense is the earthly compass
different from the heavenly one?
Point 1: - Abraham and Moses interceded for other people in the Old Testament: what makes the intercession of Jesus
different? - Does it matter if Jesus Christ intercedes for us from his throne in heaven or from a place on this earth?
- If I am struggling with my faith or living in sin, will God still hear my prayers? Why or why not? And then
what can I do?
Point 2: - What pledge did Jesus give to us when He went to heaven?
- If we cannot find that pledge in our own personal lives, what we can do to get it?
- Point 3:
- Lord’s Day 18 speaks of a pledge and a counter-pledge. Can we compare this to an exchange of wedding
rings? [We EXCHANGE wedding rings, but Christ gives us both the pledge as well as the counter-pledge.]
