Authority Over Sin

In Luke 5:17-26 we see the helpless, the helpers, the hinderers, and the Healer. The helpless paralytic man is a picture of all men apart from Christ; the helpers are concerned friends who labor vigorously to bring the man to Christ; the hinderers are self-righteous grumblers who stand in opposition; and the Healer is Christ whose priority is to teach the Word of God and to display the power of God to forgive sins.
