Distinguished from the World by Truth

Having just prayed that they may be kept from the evil one, Jesus now prays that the Father might sanctify them, setting the apart from the world, distinguishing them from the world, by the tool of His truth. He is praying about their life in the world, after He has departed to sit at His Father's right hand in heaven. Through overhearing this prayer the disciples learn that they are called out of the world by the Word of truth, and will not blend in with the world but rather, they will stick out. The disciples learn three things about themselves and about God's intentions for their lives from overhearing this prayer.
