Gnostics taught that Salvation was nothing more than receiving secret knowledge that had been hidden in codes and cryptically placed where only the so-called "enlightened ones" could find it. There are basically three main branches of Gnosticism, Dualism, Syncretism, and Docetism. Syncretism, and the origin of Mardi Gras, is discussed in this broadcast.
