The Sevenfold Humiliation of Christ

Christians know about Christ's humilation; the Shorter Catechism defines for us what Christ's humiliation consists of.

1. Being born and that in a low condition.
2. Made under the Law.
3. Undergoing the miseries of this life.
4. The wrath of God.
5. The cursed death of the cross.
6. In his being buried.
7. Continuing under the power of death for a time.
   Use of this doctrine:
   1 What value do you place on Christ today?
   2 A rebuke for materialism.
   3 Christ has left to the Church a memorial to his death.
   4 In the death of Christ there is a sufficiency to satisfy justice for all who come to him.
