The trench

With all that is preached on when it comes to this scene, we hear precious little about the trench. Have you ever stopped to consider why the trench was dug? What was Elijah doing taking the time to install a seemingly unnecessary ditch around his altar while he was in the middle of a contest with the prophets of Baal? God never does anything haphazardly, nor does His word waste any words. That trench had a purpose one it seems more Christians need to copy in their own lives.
