God is All-Holy
Series What is God?
We study the doctrine of God because the God we know is the God we worship -- be it the true God or a false God. We become like the God / gods we worship. Worship is formative. Who we worship determines who we will become. "Those that worship them, will become like them." Psalm 115:8. How we understand God determines who we worship our God. If God is Santa Claus, we will worship him like that. If he is a mean-spirited dictator, our worship will reflect that too. And if God is a Holy, Almighty, Gracious God, our worship will reflect that also. So the way we understand who God is, will determine what our worship will look like. Why is it that there is such a huge glaring absence of holiness in American worship? Might it be because people don't generally think of God as holy? Of course, this even presumes that people understand what holiness is. So if people don't know God to be holy, they won't worship God as holy. This is what I am going to zero in on today. God is All-Holy.
