More Righteous than the Pharisees

In this sermon I will be preaching from Matthew 5:17-20. One of the reasons I chose this text is I have been amazed at how often I incorrectly view the law of God - either taking it very lightly and not thinking much about His commands, or feeling overburdened and condemned by it.

These feelings are not new, and were certainly in the air in Jesus' day. In this text Jesus addresses a proper view of the law and how God is working in us to make us "more righteous than the Pharisees." I pray that it will be an encouraging corrective to all of our hearts as we continue together in the Christian life.
