The Voice of One Crying in the Wilderness

When asked by the Jerusalem delegation who he is, John the Baptist cites Isaiah 40:3, saying, "I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness: make straight the way of the Lord." In this sermon, we see from the context of Isaiah 40 that John was sent to announce the coming of God as the Savior of His people, and to call them prepare the way for Jesus Christ by turning from their sins unto Him.
