Time Condemnation
Series The Book of James
We know that for God's children "there is therefore NO CONDEMNATION." (Romans 8:1) What then does James have in mind when he speaks of the "greater condemnation" may come upon the "brethren" who do not head his warning? (James 3:1) Indeed in what sense can condemnation come upon the people of God, if their eternal destiny is established and certain in Christ? (Romans 8:31-39) The bible teaches that while there are blessings for temporal obedience in this life (Deuteronomy 28:1-14), there are likewise curses, condemnation, and the temporal correcting rod of God that can come into the lives of God's children who disobey (Deuteronomy 28:15ff, I Corinthians 11:27-34, I Timothy 3:1-7). Understanding that the scriptures instruct God's people in the way of righteousness helps us avoid the paternal discipline of TIME CONDEMNATION and to enjoy the abundant life (John 10:10) that results from willing and loving obedience to the will of God. (John 14:15)
