Have you ever sinned or made a terrible decision that wrought consequences more devastating than you could have ever conceived. Judas realized too late the gravity of what he was doing. He was brought to remorse for betraying Christ, but he found no compassion and no repentance. Consequently, he couldn't take it, couldn't live with himself and he committed suicide. Consider Adam. Adam's one sin brought sin and condemnation and death to the whole human race. He then lived 930 long years on the earth watching the devastation unfold. We'll consider here what he saw, and how with each awful thing, he would have known that it was in one sense because of him. How did he cope with that? Why was he not also suicidal? My conjecture is that he survived because he had hope, a solid foundation of hope. Hope would come from the promise of the Messiah, which he heard in Gen. 3:15. Forgiveness, grace, righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith. This had to be his hope. Otherwise, his life would have been unbearable.
