Lord's Day 1 Because WE fell into sin we need the comfort of the Gospel
Because WE fell into sin we need the comfort of the Gospel.
- What we have that the unbelieving world does not have
- What we share with the unbelieving world
- What (Who) makes us different from the unbelieving world
Questions to think about during the Sermon:
Introduction:
1 What is the ultimate reason why we have disappointments in our life?
Point 1:
2 Do we as Christians have easier lives than our neighbors? What does Paul say about this?
3 How do unbelievers react when horrible things happen in the world? What do we say in those circumstances?
4 What is the ‘modern’ reaction to trouble in the world? What is the ‘post-modern’ reaction?
Point 2:
5 What was – in the Sixteenth Century – the Anabaptist response to trouble in the world? [They have changed!].
Why did the Reformed Churches respond differently?
6 When something horrible happens to a person, is it fair to say that God is punishing that person for his or her sins?
Is it fair to say that of a family, a community, or a nation? So: what is the bottom line?
7 Why must Christians always be first to take responsibility for the problems of the world?
Point 3:
8 According to the apostle Peter, what question should our unbelieving neighbors be asking about us?
