Comfort for Grieving Saints

Death brings out the hidden doubts in each of us. We wonder whether our loved one's faith in Christ was strong enough, and we wonder whether something could have been done to prevent our grievous loss.

But we should remember that it is not the quality of our faith that saves us, but rather the power of the object of that faith, our Lord Jesus Christ!

Our great Shepherd finds His lost sheep, and then because they are so weak, He carries them upon His shoulders to the fold and to safety!

How important to look, not to our own strength, but to the mighty arm of Jesus, who is strong to save His people!

Neither should we be pestered by doubts as to whether we made the right decisions in the care of our loved ones. Our God is sovereign and accomplishes all His will perfectly.

That means that what we do actually brings about His purposes - even the acts of wicked men God uses to accomplish His will.

We can only know God's will in many instances after it has been accomplished, for whatever happens was God's purpose. No man nor beast nor so-called force of nature can change His purposes, but only accomplish them.

Thus, He uses even our foolish mistakes to His glory and purpose! So it is confusion to second-guess what we did or did not do: God's purpose was accomplished!

Because God is all-knowing and all-powerful, He has the ability to work all things to the good for those that love Him.

God determines precisely when each of us will die, and all our actions will but bring His will to pass.

For Christ's people, it is far better to be with Him than to remain in this life. We should rejoice for our loved ones who have gone ahead of us to glory!
