The Voice That Wakes The Dead!

The Bible consistently views the difference between the unconverted and saved person as nothing less than the difference between death and life (cf. 1 John 3:14; Luke 15:24&32; John 5:24).

John 5:25 reveals:

1. THE STATE OF THE DEAD.

Deadness is seen in:

• The Futility of so much of human life in this world;

• The Formality of much of established 'religion';

• The Foulness of the human heart (a brief study on Total Depravity!)

2. THE SPEECH OF THE DELIVERER.

The dead shall be raised by means of a voice ... .

The voice of Jesus is the only voice that can echo down into the dark deeps where man's spirit lies dead in its futility, formality, and foulness.

Hark, my soul, it is the Lord;
‘Tis thy Saviour, hear His word ... .

3. THE SEASON OF THE DAWN.

“... The hour is coming, and NOW IS, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.”
