To the Messenger of the Church in Smyrna

In this second of the seven letters in Revelation 2-3, we come to a very special church, that of the church in Smyrna. They never would have considered themselves special or blessed, and by no means would the world at large. But Jesus considered them very special indeed—and we will see why this morning.
