Jerusalem Below And Above
Series Galatians
68
The Apostle Paul contrasts the situation of Jerusalem below with that of Jerusalem. He uses as an allegory Ismael, who was a child of the flesh and Isaac, who was a child of promise. He that was born after the flesh was in bondage and was, and is, equivalent to Jerusalem below. Those who are the children of promise, as Isaac was are freeborn, whose mother is Jerusalem above. They are the children born of the Spirit, promised to Christ in eternity past. In Revelation 21: 9-10 we have the identity of what or who the New Jerusalem is. It is the glorified saints who are Christ's Bride.
