The Great Commandment

Aim: To so love God (by gospel grace) that we seek to keep all His other commandments as well.

Exegesis: We are to obey the great commandment, by grace, because of God's perfect nature (v. 4) and marvelous salvation (v. 5). We are to teach the great commandment, with grace: first, treasuring it within ourselves (v. 6); then, living it out within our families (v. 7), making God's love our hearts' passion (v. 8) and identity (v. 9).
