Mark: Jesus is Betrayed

84

The Arrangement

  • Mark 14:10-11 shows that Judas Iscariot thought about this and made a conscious decision.
  • The price paid to Judas was the cost of replacing a neighbor's animal if it was killed due to someone's actions

The Act

  • A great number of armed Roamn soldiers and Temple Guards came to arrest Jesus. This force was dispatched by the chief priests, teachers of the law and the elders.
  • The "kiss" was to make sure they arrested Jesus and did not make a mistake of getting the wrong man.
  • They came at night under the cover of darkness. However, Jesus had been in public for two weeks before this with numerous opportunities to arrest him, but no public action was taken.

The Appendix
The "young man" is believed to be John Mark. This would explain how this first hand account was captured and written.
