Our Daily Bread

Jesus taught us to pray, 'Give us this day our daily bread.' What does that mean? Obviously, it is a plea for the basic necessities of life -- for physical food for our physical bodies. But this petition speaks to a deeper need -- our need for the bread of heaven, come down from God to satisfy the hunger of our souls. If we eat of that bread, we will never hunger -- indeed, we will live forever and never die. Lord, give us our daily portion of Christ, the Living Bread!
