A Mindset To Work, War, Witness and Worship

We see in Nehemiah the beauty and blessings of the right people, in the right place, accepting the right position, with the right promises, to deal with the right problems — for the glory of God and the good of His people. God worked in him and stirred the hearts of those needed to get this work done. We can see the unfolding of the right mindset needed, not only in Nehemiah, but all those who would build alongside him and for God.

The mindset/heart needed is fourfold. Work, War, Witness, Worship

The people in Nehemiah's day were quickened (revived) to work. But a mindset/heart to work ain't enough to get the job done. Why? Because all of God's work will be confronted with opposition. So they would need a mindset/heart to war. And when the people realized that Nehemiah could be trusted, in the work and through the war, they began to open up and pour out their hearts before him. When they shared the bondage they were under, he realized they had a greater problem going on within their own ranks than from the enemies outside their walls. The people in charge had been taking advantage of those under their care. The heavy oppression and bondage had deflated and defeated the spirits of their own people. And no matter how strong their walls would be, if they were broken down and manipulated with debt, they wouldn't be able to stand. Their witness before the world was twisted, distorted and powerless because their walk lacked a selfless love. And with every man having to look out for himself they couldn't live…
