Scandalous Sin in the Church, part 2
Series First Corinthian Series
26
Tolerance. We hear much of this word today. It means to permit or allow acts or set of beliefs that are not shared by yourself and to respect that person in his differences. Jesus never used that word in any of the gospels but did use it twice in Revelation. We are not called to be tolerant of believer's sin, but rather there is a means to deal with unrepentant sin in the church.
Paul emphasized the urgency of this by:
- Drawing an analogy, verses 6-8
- Clearing up a misunderstanding, verses 9-13a
- Restating the command, verse 13b
