Here we are taught to pray for pardon for sins. This sermon first addresses the connection of this petition to the previous one which is "Give us this day our daily Bread."
This life is connected to the next life and what we do here follows us into the next life. Repentance of daily sins is the response of those who have been justified and born again. We walk in repentance because we have been truly forgiven and for Christ sake seek God's pardon for daily sins.

These blessings can never be our if we neglect repentance. And how can we ever know repentance is truly ours? But through the grace we show to others.
