The Ten Commandments, Introduction

The term "the Law of God" can refer, broadly, to the first 5 books of Moses; or, it can refer to the civil laws God gave Israel as a theocracy--what to do if someone steals a cow; or it can refer to the feasts and festivals and sacrifices and food restrictions, that is, the Ceremonial laws which pointed to Christ, and were fulfilled in Him. But the term the "Law of God" can also refer to God's moral law which He revealed to His people at Mt. Sinai. These Ten Commandments stand apart from those other laws, as this introductory message makes clear.
