Stick to the Basics

Although Paul had much to praise the Colossians for, they seem to have wanted a higher level of knowledge or perfection outside of Jesus, whether from Greek philosophy or Jewish traditions. These opening verses remind the church to stick to the basics, to continue in faith, love and hope under the faithful ministry of Epaphras. Regardless of how long we have been a Christian, we never move beyond the need for increased faith, love and hope.
