The Principle of Edification 1 Cor 8:1-13
-I must consider others when making personal choices
Paul is addressing the wrong basis for Christian Liberty:
*The Wrong bases is the thinking that says “my intellectual
or spiritual knowledge must be subordinate to love”
Jerusalem Council Acts 15
-Refrain from meat offered to idols, Blood, Things Strangled, Fornication
The Dangers of Knowledge
-Paul is basically saying that if we think we understand something completely, then we probably do not!
Love and Knowledge
My own logic is not a reliable guide! Even if God enables me to attain some level of understanding of something, I need to show it in love. If a position is not held in love, then it is not the right position!
The Right Basis/Knowledge : The One True God
-First Paul states Our physical existence is from God the Father
-Secondly, Our spiritual existence is Christ the Lord
-Finally the text tells us Our Eternal Existence Continues for God's Glory
