Colossians 3:21 - Marriage and Family: Role of the Parents

The marital relationship between the husband and wife is to be the priority and center of the home and family. And as the husband is the head in the marriage relationship, he is also the head of the family and the overseer of the children.

In Colossians 3:21, Paul speaks more specifically to the fathers because of their headship role over the family and because they are more prone to provoke or exasperate their children.

In this sermon, ten areas are listed in which fathers can easily provoke their children. And then Ephesians 6:1-4 is used to give fathers instruction for how to positively train their children.

Though the externals are not to be ignored, the main target in Christian parenting is the heart of the child.
