Have You Got An Achan Heart?

In Joshua 7 we meet a man called Achan.

Achan’s heart was focused on earthly things.. rather than heavenly things.

I want us to examine Achan’s mistakes so that we might be guarded against having an Anchan heart.

Achan’s sin brought misery and destruction to his own life and to the life of his family.

As Israel followed God and obeyed His commandments they were to have victory over their enemies.

Now the first City that was to be conquered was the city of Jericho.

In Joshua 7 Joshua sends spies into the land to take a look at the city of Ai.

Tragedy struck, Israel was defeated in this battle and 36 men from the nation of Israel lost their lives. Joshua 7.3-5.

Israel was defeated because sin was in the camp and that sin had to be put away.

There is a great lesson here for Churches and there is a great lesson here for individuals.

Sin brings defeat, sin brings destruction, sin brings devastation and ultimately sin brings forth death.

One man in the nation of Israel contributed to the defeat of Israel at Ai, and that man was Achan.

Achan sinned against the Lord and His sin affected the whole nation.

Achan had taken out forbidden things from the city of Jericho.
