Growing in Grace and Knowledge

Proposition: Our Lord Jesus Christ continues to build His church and the gates of Hell cannot prevail against it. He has sent the Holy Spirit to empower and guide the church and to cause her to grow in grace and in the knowledge of Him. That growth is intended to be multi-directional (upward, inward, and outward). The church in Jerusalem exhibited this growth. What can we as individuals and as a church learn and apply from this account of the wonderful work of the Spirit?

I. Receive God’s word of warning and hope (repent and believe)

II. Grow stronger, deeper, and warmer

III. Grow broader through the exercise of God’s gifts and graces

Conclusion: It is the Lord who brings the growth both individually and corporately
