The "generations of Terah" is really the generation of Abraham whom God separated from the "world" and brought him into a dynamic relationship with Himself. Through Abraham all the peoples of the world would be blessed. When we learn about Abraham we learn about the covenant. And when we learn about the covenant we learn about our own relationship with God.
