Faith is developed in real life situations. It won't get any closer than this covenant relationship between God and Abraham.

A Sure Covenant

The Wonder (v. 1)El Shaddai
The Walk (v. 1)
The Worship (v. 3)
The Worth (vs. 4-9)“Abraham”

The Sign of the Covenant—Circumcision (Vs. 10-27)

It showed the covenant faithfulness of God.
It was a great teaching tool.
It sealed a unilateral covenant.
It was a sign of wholehearted commitment to God.

Application:
•Don't get hung up on the sign and miss the relationship.

•Deuteronomy 10:16—“Circumcise your heart and stiffen your neck no more.”

•Deuteronomy 30:6— “Therefore the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul, in order that you may live.”

•Circumcision was a foreshadow of the cross.
